VASAP

Can you do VASAP classes online?

No, you cannot do VASAP classes online. The Commission on VASAP answers the question "Do you offer online ASAP classes?" with a plain "No." ASAP education classes are attended in person, attendance is mandatory, and you are expected to take an active part.

What attendance involves

  • Classes total 10 hours: two-hour sessions once a week for five weeks.
  • Your case manager schedules your class times and locations with you.
  • You must attend every assigned session; missed classes are allowed only for bona fide emergencies.
  • Active participation is required: taking part in discussion, doing in-class and homework assignments, and bringing your book.

If you live in another state

The ASAP still monitors your case, by phone and email. Your case manager helps you find comparable education or treatment services in your home state, and you must get approval before attending any out-of-state program.

If you live or move elsewhere in Virginia

You first enroll with the ASAP that serves the place where the offense and conviction happened. The case can then be transferred to an ASAP near where you live, work, or go to school. Avoid moving in the middle of your classes, which could mean starting them over.
